Part of the Greater Windsor metropolitan area, East Riverside is a neighbourhood within Windsor, Ontario.

Transportation

The preferred means of transportation in East Riverside is usually driving. It is easy to park. On the other hand, East Riverside is not an especially convenient part of Windsor for moving around by public transit. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. East Riverside is reasonably bike-friendly as the cycling infrastructure is extensive, and there are a limited number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists. This neighbourhood is not especially suitable for walking as meeting daily needs is at times difficult by walking.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required in East Riverside to access the nearest grocery store. There are also a few choices for those who value nearby restaurants. With regards to education, there are only a limited number of high schools in East Riverside and thus they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, this part of the city does not have any primary schools. Likewise, families may consider it challenging for their children to get to daycares as a pedestrian.

Character

The character of East Riverside is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. There are over 50 parks nearby for residents to explore, like Lakeshore Woods and McHugh, and they are very well-distributed, making them very easy to reach. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 60% of dwellings in East Riverside, and the rest are mainly townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has occurred following the year 2000. This part of Windsor is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder.
