The neighbourhood of Lakeshore is part of the city of Waterloo, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is very often the best transportation option in this neighbourhood. Nearby highways are quite easy to access from any home in Lakeshore, and it is convenient to park. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be occasionally difficult in Lakeshore due to the low service level. Nevertheless, residents are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Lakeshore, even though many common errands can be run on foot. In contrast, a fair number of residents in the area use their bike as the cycling infrastructure is reasonably good.

Services

Parents and their children will value the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most houses for sale in Lakeshore. In contrast, Lakeshore does not contain any high schools. As far as food is concerned, some, but not all, property owners in this part of Waterloo will live within walking distance of the closest supermarket. A limited selection of restaurants is available in Lakeshore as well.

Lakeshore is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This area is very quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, it is easy to reach parks since there are a few of them nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly half of dwellings in Lakeshore, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood occurred in the 1960s and 1970s. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. There are equal parts owners and renters living in this neighbourhood.
