York Mills

Transportation

No matter the mode of transportation, it is reasonably convenient to travel in York Mills. Thanks to Oriole with access to the Richmond Hill, and a few nearby bus lines, the reasonably good public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle. Travelling on foot is also reasonably feasible for home buyers in this neighbourhood; many daily needs are easy to carry out by walking, and plenty of businesses are close by. Even though a few enjoyable pockets for bicycling can be found, this part of Toronto is not very amenable to bicycling since there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and York Mills has a fairly poor bicycling infrastructure.

Services

It is generally feasible for home buyers in this part of the city to do groceries by walking. In addition, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a small selection of cafes can be found as well. With regards to education, families will value that wherever their house is located in this area, schools and daycares are nearby.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in York Mills, as well as some areas with a vibrant atmosphere. To be more precise, accessing green spaces, such as Vyner Greenbelt and St. Andrews Park - North York, is very easy from numerous locations within the neighbourhood since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to relax in. Lastly, this part of Toronto is relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, although there can be higher levels of noise for those who are closer to Highway 401 or the railway line.

Housing

In York Mills, most buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Toronto also has a good selection of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one third are rented. This area experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period.
