West Humber

The neighbourhood of West Humber can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Toronto features a good public transit system due to Etobicoke North with access to the Kitchener, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines. On the other hand, there aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of West Humber, although many daily errands can be run on foot. Despite the fact that cycling is more practical in some areas than others, biking is challenging in this neighbourhood as there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and West Humber is home to a rather limited bicycling infrastructure. On the other hand, the preferred method of transportation in this part of the city is usually driving. The street network is quite well suited for getting around by car, and the majority of real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 409.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to access primary schools from most properties for sale in West Humber. In contrast, there are only a limited number of high schools and therefore they can be an extended walk away. Families benefit from public and private high schools. In terms of eating, reaching the nearest grocery store on foot is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in this part of the city. A small selection of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in West Humber. More specifically, it is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to discover. However, there are few tree-lined streets. Finally, noise can sometimes be an issue in this area, as traffic during rush hour can occasionally be loud.

Housing

In West Humber, around two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. The homes in this part of Toronto are quite old, because about 40% of its buildings were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.
