In particular, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. The character of Chestnut Hills is exemplified by its calm environment. The greenery in this part of the city is especially prominent; most locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, such as Tom Riley Park, since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to enjoy. In addition, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is wonderful. The noise levels in this neighbourhood are also low, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to the railway line.

Chestnut Hills experienced its largest construction boom before the 1960s, so most of the available properties are from this era. In this neighbourhood, most dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the homes are mainly small apartment buildings.
