West End

The neighbourhood of West End can be found in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Thunder Bay metropolitan area.

Transportation

West End will draw active home buyers because it is conducive to those who travel by foot; carrying out daily needs is easy. On the other hand, West End is not especially amenable to biking since the cycling network is not very extensive, and the area is not very flat. Cars are a reasonably good transportation option in this part of Thunder Bay. The majority of houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, and it is convenient to come across a parking spot. However, West End is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop.

Services

The closest supermarket in this part of the city is generally only a reasonably short walk away. A small selection of restaurants can be found in this neighbourhood as well. As far as education is concerned, families will appreciate that no matter where their property is situated in West End, daycares and schools are nearby.

Character

The character of West End is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. West End is very good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Around three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. In this area, about three quarters of dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining properties are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood happened pre-1960. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
