The neighbourhood of McIntyre can be found in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Thunder Bay metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great mode of transportation in this neighbourhood. It is very easy to park. However, the public transit service in McIntyre is not very frequent. Nonetheless, residents are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally a short walk away. Even though biking is more practical in certain sectors than others, it is sometimes difficult to commute by bike in McIntyre as the bicycling network is quite bad, and the topography is not particularly flat. It is also challenging for pedestrians to move around in this neighbourhood since very few common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to do groceries. When it comes to education, primary schools are easy to walk to from most houses for sale in this part of Thunder Bay. In contrast, high schools are not numerous and accordingly tend to require a very long walk to get to. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

McIntyre offers a calm ambience. Most areas in McIntyre are quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of McIntyre is an important part of its character. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 5% are renters. About 20% of properties in this part of Thunder Bay were constructed in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
