McIntyre

McIntyre is a neighbourhood within Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Thunder Bay metropolitan area.

Transportation

McIntyre is very car friendly. Parking is generally easy. In contrast, getting around by transit can be very hard in McIntyre due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are typically close by. Although a few bicycling-friendly pockets can be found, it is at times challenging to move around by bike in this part of the city as the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and the area is not especially flat. McIntyre is also not very convenient for those who travel by foot as very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Property owners in this neighbourhood almost always have to turn to a car to reach the closest supermarket. As far as education is concerned, primary schools are easy to walk to from most properties for sale in this area. On the other hand, parents may find it very difficult for their children to get to high schools on foot. Families are served by public and private primary schools.

Character

The character of McIntyre is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. The noise levels in McIntyre are reasonably low, as the streets are usually quite tranquil.

Housing

In McIntyre, almost all dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 20% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of Thunder Bay is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters.
