Stamford

The neighbourhood of Stamford is part of the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, which is situated in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred way to get around in Stamford is very often driving. Coming across a place to park is easy, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 420, from any location in this area. However, the public transit system in Stamford is fairly poor. Nevertheless, there are around 20 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this area, despite the fact that many daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. However, Stamford is quite amenable to cycling as there are a limited number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to access daycares and schools from anywhere in Stamford. As far as eating is concerned, reaching the closest grocery store on foot is practical for some, but not all, property owners in this neighbourhood. A limited variety of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.

Character

Stamford is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. There are about 30 green spaces close by for residents to check out, including E. E. Mitchelson Park and Millennium Recreational Trail - Niagara Falls Lions Legacy Pathway, and they are very well-distributed, which makes them easy to reach from many locations within Stamford. This part of the city is very quiet overall, as the streets are generally very calm.

Housing

In Stamford, many buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood also has quite a good variety of unit sizes; although this part of the city is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the units in Stamford and the rest are rented. Roughly half of the homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
