Situated within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Vinegar Hill is a neighbourhood in Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

This part of the city is especially car friendly. Finding a parking spot is generally easy, and most properties for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 407. In contrast, the public transit network in Vinegar Hill is fairly poor. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. This area is reasonably conducive to biking. In contrast, there are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of Markham, although running common errands is easy on foot.

Services

In Vinegar Hill, parents and their children will often be able to reach daycares and schools on foot. Regarding eating, some, but not all, house buyers in this part of the city will live within walking distance of the nearest supermarket.

Character

The character of Vinegar Hill is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. This part of Markham is good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as the streets are reasonably tranquil - although there are still several noisier sections, especially close to Highway 407. Finally, it is very easy to access parks since there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Nearly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters. In this neighbourhood, around two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly duplexes. Roughly 30% of properties in this area were built between 1980 and 1990, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
