Westminster

Situated within the Greater London metropolitan area, Westminster is a neighbourhood within London, Ontario.

Transportation

Westminster is very car friendly. Coming across a parking spot is quite easy, and nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are reasonably easy to reach from anywhere in this area. In contrast, the public transit system in Westminster is not very accessible. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most residences. This part of the city is conducive to bicycling as there are a limited number of slopes for cyclists to brave. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are not particularly well-suited for walking because few common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.

Services

Getting to the nearest grocery store by walking is an option for some, but not all, house buyers in this part of London. A small selection of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. When it comes to education, it is a reasonably short walk to access schools and daycares from anywhere in Westminster.

Character

Westminster is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Most areas in this part of the city are especially quiet, as the streets are very peaceful closer to Highway 401 or the railway line. Finally, it is very easy to reach parks in the neighbourhood, since there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to relax in and most houses have a park around the corner.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Westminster happened between 1960 and 1980. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around 60% of dwellings in this area, while townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the units in Westminster while the remainder are rented. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
