Forest Hill is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Physically active house buyers will welcome the pedestrian-friendly nature of this part of Kitchener; running daily errands is easy on foot. This part of Kitchener is also conducive to bicycling because the cycling network is reasonably good. This part of the city is very car friendly. The majority of houses for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8, and it is easy to park. On the other hand, the public transit service in Forest Hill is sometimes poor. Thankfully, property owners are served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close.

Services

Families will value that wherever their house is located in this neighbourhood, both primary and secondary schools are close by. On the other hand, daycares are not particularly abundant and accordingly tend to require an extended walk to get to. When it comes to eating, house buyers in this area will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. Residents benefit from a few restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

Forest Hill is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Green spaces are very well-distributed and there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes it very easy to access them. The noise levels in this part of Kitchener are also low, as the streets tend to be calm - although that is not the case close to Highway 7 & 8.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most buildings in Forest Hill, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings. A majority of the housing growth in this part of the city occurred between 1960 and 1980. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.
