Located within the Greater Kingston metropolitan area, Markers Acres is a neighbourhood within Kingston, Ontario.

Transportation

Markers Acres is an extraordinarily good part of Kingston for travelling by car. It is very convenient to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401. On the other hand, the public transit service in this neighbourhood is not particularly frequent. Nevertheless, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally very close. Biking is at times challenging in Markers Acres as there are a fair number of elevation changes, and the bicycling infrastructure is fairly poor. Nevertheless, riding a bike is better in certain areas than others. Markers Acres is also not particularly conducive to those who travel by foot as very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are especially easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in this neighbourhood. However, this area does not contain any high schools. With respect to eating, it is easy to get to the nearest supermarket on foot from most properties for sale in Markers Acres. Residents benefit from a few restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy Markers Acres. It is easy to reach parks from a large number of locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to explore. This part of Kingston is also very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour closer to Highway 401 or the railway line.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 45% of dwellings in Markers Acres, while small apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the remainder are renters. About half of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
