Simcoe

The neighbourhood of Simcoe can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. Parking is easy, and most houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway. However, the public transit system in Simcoe is quite poor. Simcoe is not very conducive to walking because many daily needs are difficult to meet on foot. Bicycling is also challenging in this area because there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Simcoe. Likewise, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long walk away. As far as eating is concerned, home buyers in Simcoe almost always have to rely on a car to buy their groceries.

Character

The character of Simcoe is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Simcoe is good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, making them occasionally challenging to access. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

About 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 15% are rented. Single detached homes and row houses are the main housing type in this area. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant construction boom pre-1960, so most of the available homes are from this time period. This part of the city also has quite a good choice of unit sizes - there is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this area.
