Transportation

Moving around by car is very convenient in Cooper. Many houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401, and accessing a place to park is quite easy. On the other hand, Cooper is not an especially pleasant part of Cambridge for getting around by public transit. Thankfully, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Walking is not very practical for residents in Cooper since most daily needs are inconvenient to meet without having to resort to a car. Moving around by bicycle is also sometimes difficult in this neighbourhood since the bicycling network is not very extensive. Thankfully, cycling is more feasible in certain pockets than others, and there are a limited number of elevation changes.

Services

In Cooper, families will almost always be able to reach primary schools on foot. In contrast, there are no high schools in this area. Families have the choice between public and private elementary schools. When it comes to food, it is very rarely an option for home buyers in Cooper to buy their groceries by walking. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically straightforward to reach on foot and sell some staple foods. A coffee shop is usually a rather short walk away, and a small number of restaurants are available in Cooper as well.

Character

The character of Cooper is exemplified by its relaxed environment. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to explore, including Hespeler Optimist Park, making them easy to reach. This part of the city is also wonderful for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier areas, especially closer to Highway 401.

Housing

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Cooper is an important part of its character. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place after the year 2000. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the rest are rented.
