The community of Porters Lake is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured approach to get around in Porters Lake is very often a car. It is very easy to park, and nearby highways are easy to reach from anywhere in this area. However, the public transit network in Porters Lake is not very accessible. Thankfully, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. It is very impractical for people walking to navigate this area since very few daily needs can be carried out on foot. Cycling is also challenging in Porters Lake because riding is rendered difficult by the typically steep area, and the bicycling network is quite bad.

Services

Daycares are convenient to reach on foot from anywhere in Porters Lake. On the other hand, there are only a limited number of primary schools in this part of Halifax and consequently they can be a long walk away. Additionally, Porters Lake does not have any high schools.
