Lake Echo is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best way to move around in this part of Halifax is very often driving. Accessing a parking spot is quite easy. On the other hand, residents using public transit may have few choices in this community as a result of the low service level. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Lake Echo is not very bicycling-friendly because the terrain is not very flat, and the cycling network is quite bad. Many of the houses for sale in this community are located in areas that are also not very conducive to walking as meeting day-to-day needs is almost impossible on foot.

Services

In Lake Echo, families will often be able to access daycares on foot. However, there are only a very small number of primary schools in this area and consequently they can be a very long walk away. In addition, Lake Echo does not have any high schools. As far as eating is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to shop for groceries. About one third of properties in this part of Halifax were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
