Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Gaetz Brook is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is a great medium of transportation in Gaetz Brook. It is very easy to park. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not very well-suited for walking as almost no daily needs can be met on foot. Gaetz Brook is also not very cycling-friendly since the bicycling network is rather limited, and the topography is not especially flat.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to walk to from most houses for sale in Gaetz Brook. With regards to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to purchase groceries.

Character

Gaetz Brook is a fairly good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Most areas in Gaetz Brook are reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Parks aren't well-situated, which results in them being occasionally challenging to reach from many locations in this part of the municipality. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to unwind in, including Gaetz Brook Junior High School Park.

Housing

In Gaetz Brook, the vast majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly mobile homes. Roughly one quarter of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the municipality also has quite a good selection of housing size options; there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this community. Homeowners occupy around 90% of the properties in Gaetz Brook whereas the rest are rented.
