Brookvale

The community of Brookvale is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent means of transportation in Brookvale. Parking is easy. A majority of the houses for sale in this community are located in areas that are not very well-suited for those who travel by foot as meeting daily needs is very impractical. Brookvale is also not very cycling-friendly since the topography is not especially flat, and this part of Halifax has a quite bad cycling infrastructure.

Services

There are only a very small number of high schools in this community and therefore they can be a very long walk away. Moreover, Brookvale does not have any primary schools. As far as eating is concerned, it is very rarely an option for property owners in this area to travel to the nearest grocery store on foot.

Character

Brookvale offers a calm environment. Brookvale is especially quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Public green spaces aren't well-situated, which results in them being very hard to reach from the majority of locations within this part of the municipality.

Housing

The homes in this community are quite old, since about one third of its dwellings were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the dwellings in Brookvale and 5% are rented. This community is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
