Lingan

Part of the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Lingan is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is very often the preferred mode of transportation in Lingan. It is especially convenient to come across a parking spot. This community is not very conducive to those who travel by foot as very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Lingan is also not very amenable to biking since there are a good number of slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Lingan. Moreover, daycares are not numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance. With respect to food, a portion of house buyers in this community may be able to do their groceries on foot, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation.

Character

Lingan offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This part of the municipality is very quiet, as the streets are generally very peaceful. Lastly, it is easy to access public green spaces and there are a few of them close by for residents to check out.

Housing

In Lingan, the vast majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly townhouses. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 85% of the units in the community whereas the rest are rented. About 30% of properties in this part of the municipality were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
