Ironville

Located within the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Ironville is a community in Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Ironville is especially car friendly. It is very easy to access a parking spot. Commuting by bicycle is very difficult in Ironville as there are a fair number of hills, and there are very few bike lanes. Many of the homes for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for walking since running day-to-day errands is practically impossible.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Ironville. As far as food is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to buy groceries.

Character

The character of Ironville is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This part of the municipality is quiet, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful. Finally, there are a few green spaces close by for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to reach.

Housing

The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Ironville is an important part of its character. About 20% of homes in this community were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the municipality has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Nearly all of the population of this community own their home while the remainder are renters.
