The community of River Ryan can be found in the municipality of Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred means of transportation in River Ryan is usually a car. It is especially convenient to park. This part of Cape Breton Municipality is not very conducive to bicycling as there are a good number of slopes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Walking is also not very feasible for residents in this community because very few common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle.
