Catalone

Catalone is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Catalone is an extraordinarily good part of Cape Breton Municipality for getting around by car. It is especially convenient to park. Cycling is difficult in Catalone because Catalone has a quite poor bicycling infrastructure, and there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of Cape Breton Municipality are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for walking because most daily needs are very impractical to carry out without the use of a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this community. When it comes to food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to purchase groceries.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy Catalone. This area is fairly good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, although the community does not contain any parks, public green spaces are very well-distributed in nearby communities, resulting in them being very easy to access from the majority of locations within Catalone.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Catalone is an important part of its character. About 45% of properties in this part of Cape Breton Municipality were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1990s. This community offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the dwellings in the community are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented.
