Situated within the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, North End is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

This area is a fairly convenient part of Saint John for pedestrians; many daily errands can be run without the use of a car. It is also easy to commute by bike in North End. North End is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. In contrast, driving is a very good transportation option in North End. The majority of homes for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, and it is easy to park.

Services

It is very often an option for home buyers in this part of Saint John to do their groceries on foot. Additionally, there is often a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to get to daycares and primary schools from most properties for sale in this neighbourhood. However, there are no high schools in this part of the city. Residents are served by public and private primary schools.

Character

North End offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is very quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic closer to the railway line. Lastly, public green spaces, like Parc Shamrock Park, are especially well-situated and there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out, which makes them very easy to get to from the majority of locations within North End.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in North End, while duplexes and single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder. The homes in this part of the city are quite old, since roughly half of its dwellings were built before the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s.
