Part of the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, Forest Hills is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

Forest Hills is an extremely convenient part of Saint John for getting around by car. Most properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, and coming across a place to park is quite easy. However, this neighbourhood is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. This neighbourhood is not especially cycling-friendly because the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor, and riding is made arduous by the often hilly area. It is also inconvenient for people walking to navigate this part of the city as few daily errands can be run on foot.

Services

House buyers in this part of the city will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. Regarding education, parents and their children will value the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, properties for sale in this part of the city. On the other hand, Forest Hills does not have any high schools.

Character

The character of Forest Hills is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Forest Hills is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Public green spaces are distributed sporadically, resulting in them being rather difficult to reach from many locations within this part of the city. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

In Forest Hills, roughly 45% of buildings are single detached homes, but large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of Saint John is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the remainder are renters. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city occurred in the 1960s and 1970s.
