River East

River East is a neighbourhood within Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is located in the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area.

Transportation

Moving around by car is very easy in River East. The majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, and it is convenient to find a place to park. In contrast, the public transit network in this area is fairly poor. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. River East is quite conducive to cycling because riding is facilitated by the generally flat terrain, and there are a good number of bike lanes. It is at times challenging for people walking to get around in this area as few day-to-day errands can be run on foot.

Services

It is often an option for property owners in this neighbourhood to purchase their groceries on foot. Residents are served by a few restaurants and coffee shops as well. With respect to education, families will find that wherever their home is located in this part of the city, daycares and schools are close by.

The character of River East is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This area is very quiet overall, as the streets are very calm.
