East Richmond

East Richmond is a neighbourhood within Richmond, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Getting around by bicycle is easy in East Richmond since there are a limited number of slopes for cyclists to brave. Active house buyers will also enjoy the pedestrian-friendly character of this part of the city; many common errands can be run on foot. Cars are an excellent transportation option in East Richmond. Nearby highways, such as Highway 99, are quite easy to reach from any home in East Richmond, and it is easy to park. On the other hand, public transit riders may have few options in East Richmond as a result of the low service level. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby.

Services

It is a short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from most houses for sale in East Richmond. In contrast, parents may find it challenging for their schoolchildren to access daycares on foot. With respect to eating, house buyers in this neighbourhood almost always have to use a vehicle to purchase their groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the closest pharmacy and consequently some staple foods is typically easy. A small variety of restaurants can be found in this neighbourhood as well.

Character

East Richmond offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant atmosphere. It is very easy to get to public green spaces, since there are around 20 of them nearby for residents to unwind in and most homes have a park very close by. Lastly, this part of Richmond remains relatively quiet, as there are few people out and about on the streets, although noise levels are higher closer to westminster highway, Steveston Offramp Highway or the railway line.

Housing

In East Richmond, about 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city is primarily composed of one bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. This part of Richmond experienced its biggest building boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing stock is from this era.
