Cypress

The neighbourhood of Cypress can be found in the municipality of West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of West Vancouver is very car friendly. It is very easy to find a place to park, and the majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway. However, Cypress is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually nearby. This part of the municipality is not very conducive to those who travel by foot as carrying out day-to-day needs is impractical by walking. The bike is a somewhat poor method of transportation in Cypress since the cycling network is not very well-developed, and riding is rendered strenuous by the typically hilly area.

Services

In Cypress, families will almost always be able to get to daycares and primary schools on foot. In contrast, this part of West Vancouver does not have any high schools. As far as food is concerned, home buyers in this neighbourhood almost always have to use a vehicle to access the closest grocery store.

Character

Cypress is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm environment. Public green spaces are very easy to access since there are a few of them nearby for residents to discover. This neighbourhood is also good for those who enjoy quiet areas, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

In Cypress, around 90% of dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly duplexes. This area is notable for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 15% are rented. About one quarter of properties in this part of the municipality were constructed pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
