Chartwell

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Chartwell is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very easy in Chartwell. It is very easy to park, and many real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as taylor way. In contrast, the public transit network in Chartwell is not very convenient. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is generally very close. Travelling by bicycle is difficult in Chartwell as the cycling infrastructure is rather poor, and there are quite a few hills. Most homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very conducive to walking as few common errands can be run without having to use a car.

Services

It is a rather short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from most houses for sale in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, it can be very hard to reach daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of food, property owners in Chartwell almost always have to rely on a vehicle to access the closest supermarket.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced ambience will enjoy Chartwell. The noise levels in this part of West Vancouver are very low, as the streets tend to be very calm - although that is not the case closer to Trans-Canada Highway or taylor way. Lastly, it is very easy to access public green spaces, since there are around 30 of them nearby for residents to unwind in and the majority of properties for sale have a park that is very easy to reach.

Housing

Roughly three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. The predominant housing types in this neighbourhood are single detached homes and row houses. Around 40% of homes in this part of the municipality were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this neighbourhood.
