Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Hockaday Nestor is a neighbourhood within Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Transportation

Hockaday Nestor is reasonably car friendly. It is convenient to come across a place to park. In contrast, getting around by transit can be sometimes difficult in this part of Coquitlam due to the low service level. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Hockaday Nestor, even though running daily errands is convenient. On the other hand, it is straightforward to travel by bicycle in this part of the city since the cycling infrastructure is extensive.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are easy to access on foot from anywhere in this neighbourhood. In contrast, there are no high schools in this part of Coquitlam. With respect to eating, a car is generally needed in this neighbourhood to access the nearest supermarket.

Character

The character of Hockaday Nestor is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Public green spaces are very well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to access. Most areas in this neighbourhood are very quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly one third of buildings in Hockaday Nestor, and the rest are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. About 40% of properties in this area were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 30% are rented.
