The neighbourhood of Aberdeen is part of the city of Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is situated in the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best way to move around in Aberdeen is usually a car. It is very easy to park. In contrast, this area is not an especially pleasant part of Abbotsford for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is typically very close. Getting around by bicycle is difficult in Aberdeen as there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Walking is also not very practical for house buyers in Aberdeen as very few daily errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in Aberdeen and accordingly they can be an extended walk away. In addition, this part of the city does not contain any high schools. Furthermore, families may consider it very hard for their kids to get to daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of eating, it is very rarely feasible for home buyers in this area to travel to the nearest supermarket by walking. Nonetheless, pharmacies are typically convenient to reach on foot and sell some staple foods.

Character

Aberdeen offers a calm environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. It is easy to reach parks in the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out, such as Hogan Family Nature Park and Regional. This area is very quiet overall, as the streets tend to be very tranquil close to Trans-Canada Highway or the airport (Abbotsford International Airport).

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in Aberdeen. Around 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one quarter are rented.
