UDistrict is a neighbourhood within Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is situated in the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area.

Transportation

UDistrict is an extremely convenient part of Abbotsford for travelling by car. Parking is quite easy, and most real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, the public transit system in UDistrict is not very practical. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. Walking in UDistrict is not very popular, even though many common errands can be run without the use of a car. UDistrict is also not especially conducive to cycling because there is a significant amount of slopes, and the bicycling infrastructure is sometimes poor. Nevertheless, a good number of people choose to travel by bike.

Services

Some, but not all, property owners in UDistrict will reside within walking distance of the closest grocery store. However, a coffee shop is typically a reasonably short stroll away, and there are also a limited number of choices for those who care about close by restaurants. It is also convenient to access a variety of clothing stores on foot. As far as education is concerned, parents and their kids will appreciate that no matter where their home is located in UDistrict, schools and daycares are close by. At the elementary level, both public and private schools can be found.

Character

UDistrict is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Public green spaces are easy to reach since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as the streets are reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case close to Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

About 30% of homes in UDistrict were built between 1990 and 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this part of the city, about half of buildings are small apartment buildings, but duplexes and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. About two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. This part of Abbotsford also has a good variety of housing size options - it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
