The neighbourhood of Matsqui Prairie is part of the city of Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is situated in the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area.

Transportation

Commuting by car is especially convenient in Matsqui Prairie. Parking is quite easy. On the other hand, the public transit system in this part of Abbotsford is not very practical. Thankfully, residents are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. This part of Abbotsford is not very suitable for walking since running common errands is sometimes difficult. However, it is convenient to get around by bicycle in Matsqui Prairie.

Services

Families may consider it difficult for their children to access high schools and primary schools as pedestrians. Residents have the choice between public and private elementary schools. Additionally, daycares are not especially plentiful and accordingly not always within walking distance. When it comes to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to do groceries.

Character

The character of Matsqui Prairie is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This neighbourhood is quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines or the airport (Mission Water Aerodrome). Finally, it is very easy to get to green spaces from most locations in the neighbourhood, since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to explore, like Ridgedale Bar Park and Bateman Park.

In Matsqui Prairie, most buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly duplexes and townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented. About one quarter of homes in this area were constructed in the 1990s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
