Kate McKinnon

I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. As a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I've had the opportunity to live in a number of cities across Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. After leaving the Navy honourably, I relocated to the Ottawa region, where I met my husband, started my family, earned an Honours B.A. in English and an M.A. in English Literature, and worked at the University of Ottawa. For years, I dreamed of escaping the city in search of a smaller town—one that could bring me back to my roots and offer me and my young family a true sense of belonging, a feeling of home, and a place among the Franco-Ontarien community. My search inevitably led us to Brockville, where I currently reside in a multigenerational home, with my husband, two children, and in-laws.
