Situated within the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area, Alces is a neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta.

Transportation

Travelling by car is especially convenient in Alces. Nearby highways are reasonably easy to reach from anywhere in this part of the city, and it is very easy to come across a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit service in Alces is not very frequent. The bike is a somewhat poor means of transportation in this part of the city because the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad, and there are a fair number of hills for cyclists to brave. It is also very challenging for people travelling on foot to navigate this part of Edmonton as many daily needs are inconvenient to meet by walking.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to purchase groceries. With regards to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this neighbourhood. In addition, daycares are not especially numerous and consequently not always within walking distance.

Character

Alces offers a calm environment. Alces is very quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Parks aren't well-spread out, which makes it sometimes hard to get to them. Still, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to visit.

Most of the housing growth in Alces has taken place after the year 2000. The substantial proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character.
