Summerside

Part of the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area, Summerside is a neighbourhood within Edmonton, Alberta.

Transportation

Summerside is a fairly good part of Edmonton for moving around by car. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway from any home in Summerside, and it is easy to find a place to park. However, getting around by transit can be challenging in this area as a result of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most residences. Walking is not particularly feasible for property owners in this part of Edmonton since few day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. However, Summerside is bicycling-friendly as there are a good number of bike lanes.

Services

In this area, parents and their schoolchildren will usually be able to get to schools and daycares on foot. Regarding eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to do groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is generally convenient. There are also a few choices for those who value nearby restaurants.

Character

Summerside offers a calm ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This part of Edmonton is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, parks are especially well-located and there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in, which makes it easy to get to them.

Housing

In Summerside, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the remainder are rented. The buildings in this neighbourhood are very modern, since nearly all of its buildings were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed 1990.
