Driving is a great transportation option in Silverado. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and finding a parking spot is quite easy. In contrast, Silverado is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. It is difficult for people walking to get around in Silverado as running common errands is impractical. Despite the fact that the bicycling network is good, Silverado is also not especially cycling-friendly since there are a good number of slopes to challenge cyclists.

However, there are only a very small number of daycares and thus they can be a very long walk away. As far as food is concerned, it is often possible for home buyers in Silverado to buy groceries on foot. Residents are served by a few restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

Silverado offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Finally, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to discover and they are very well-distributed, which results in them being easy to access from most locations in the neighbourhood.

Housing

In Silverado, roughly three quarters of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly townhouses. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place after the year 2000. This area also has a choice of housing size options - there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this part of Calgary. Roughly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented.
