Signal Hill

The neighbourhood of Signal Hill can be found in the city of Calgary, Alberta, which is situated in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a good medium of transportation in this part of the city. It is very convenient to park. However, Signal Hill is not an especially pleasant part of Calgary for travelling by public transit. Nonetheless, residents can depend on Sirocco Station on the Blue Line - Saddletowne/69 Street CTrain. Homeowners are served by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this part of Calgary, despite the fact that running daily errands is easy on foot. However, Signal Hill is reasonably bicycling-friendly since there are a fair number of bike lanes.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and thus they can be a long walk away. Furthermore, Signal Hill does not contain any high schools. Likewise, families may find it very hard for their children to get to daycares as a pedestrian. Concerning eating, in most, if not all, cases, a car is required to buy groceries. Nevertheless, it is generally a reasonably short walk to the nearest pharmacy, which can provide some staple foods. Residents can enjoy approximately 20 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

The character of Signal Hill is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. This part of the city is very quiet, as the streets are usually very peaceful. Finally, green spaces are very well-spread out and there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to discover, which makes them very easy to reach.

Housing

Most housing in Signal Hill was constructed between 1990 and 2000, during its main construction boom. In this neighbourhood, around two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. This part of Calgary offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
