Chinatown

The neighbourhood of Chinatown can be found in the city of Calgary, Alberta, which is situated in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood offers home buyers the choice between various methods of transportation. Chinatown benefits from a very good public transit infrastructure. The neighbourhood is served by about 20 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. It is also especially convenient for pedestrians to get around in Chinatown; carrying out day-to-day needs is very easy, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Chinatown is very bicycling-friendly as the cycling infrastructure is very comprehensive.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, homes for sale in Chinatown. In terms of food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in this neighbourhood. Moreover, there are around 20 restaurants and a few cafes to benefit from in Chinatown.

Character

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, Chinatown is a fairly good option. Chinatown is reasonably quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. There are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy and they are especially well-spread out, which makes them very easy to access. Lastly, there are many things to do in this area to explore. Even though a narrow selection of entertainment venues can be found nearby, there are many people around most of the time, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located very close by.

Housing

The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of Chinatown is an important part of its character. Around one third of properties in this area were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. Notably, this part of the city is good for those looking for one bedroom homes. Roughly three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and one quarter are occupied by owners.
