Located in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area, Capitol Hill is a neighbourhood within Calgary, Alberta.

Transportation

Capitol Hill presents property owners with several alternative methods of transportation. This area has a reasonably good public transit system. House owners have access to about 10 bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. It is also easy for people walking to get around in Capitol Hill; many daily errands can be run on foot, and numerous businesses are reasonably nearby. Capitol Hill is a fairly pleasant part of Calgary for bike riders. For example, cyclists do not face significant elevation changes, and there are a fair number of bike lanes.

Services

The nearest supermarket in Capitol Hill is generally only a short walk away. In addition, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of options, and residents are served by a few cafes as well. In terms of education, parents and their schoolchildren will appreciate the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from most, if not all, houses for sale in this part of Calgary.

Character

Capitol Hill is a very good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to discover and they are very well-distributed, making it very easy to access them. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

In Capitol Hill, roughly 30% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the remainder are mainly duplexes, single detached homes, and townhouses. About one third of properties in this area were built pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and two bedroom homes. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even.
