Cap-Rouge

The neighbourhood of Cap-Rouge can be found in the city of Québec, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Cap-Rouge. It is very convenient to park, and most properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. In contrast, Cap-Rouge is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, residents are served by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. Cap-Rouge is not very conducive to those who travel by foot because running common errands is occasionally challenging. On the other hand, biking is easy in this neighbourhood.

Services

It is a rather short walk to access primary schools and daycares from anywhere in this part of Québec. In contrast, families may find it very hard for their kids to reach high schools on foot. Regarding food, purchasing one's groceries very often requires the use of a vehicle in this area. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically convenient to get to on foot and supply some basic food items. Residents of Cap-Rouge benefit from about 10 restaurants as well.

Character

Cap-Rouge is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This part of Québec is especially quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, parks, such as Parc Cartier-Roberval and Boisé de Marly, are very well-situated and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to relax in, which results in them being easy to reach from most locations in the neighbourhood.

Housing

About one third of properties in Cap-Rouge were built between 1980 and 1990, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. In this part of the city, many dwellings are single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. About 85% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. This part of Québec is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
