Transportation

Saint-Henry allows property owners to travel using several modes of transportation. Saint-Henry is an extraordinarily convenient part of Montréal for pedestrians; most day-to-day errands can be run on foot, and there are also a good number of businesses in proximity. This area will also attract active people since it is suited for biking. More specifically, Saint-Henry is home to a good bicycling infrastructure, and there are not many hills to challenge bike riders. The great public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car as a consequence of 2 rapid transit stations (Place-Saint-Henri Station and Lionel-Groulx Station) with access to the Ligne 2 - Orange and Ligne 1 - Verte, and about 20 nearby bus lines. Driving is also a reasonably good transportation option in this area. Nearby highways, such as Autoroute Ville-Marie, are very easy to access from anywhere in Saint-Henry.

Services

Daycares and schools are very easy to reach on foot from any location in this part of the city. As far as eating is concerned, house buyers in this area will welcome that a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away. Moreover, there is typically a restaurant or cafe in close proximity.

Character

Saint-Henry is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of the city. This neighbourhood has many areas to discover. Despite the fact that there is a poor selection of entertainment venues, the streets are usually busy with people, and with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located around the corner. Rue Notre-Dame in particular offers a broad selection of bars. Saint-Henry is good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic, although that is not the case closer to Autoroute du Souvenir, Autoroute Décarie or the railway line. This part of Montréal also features a good amount of greenery; there are about 20 parks close by for residents to unwind in, including Lieu Historique National du Canada du-Canal-de-Lachine and Parc de la Falaise Saint-Jacques, and they are very well-spread out, which makes them very easy to reach. Furthermore, residents will find that there are numerous tree-lined streets.

Housing

The predominance of small apartment buildings in the housing stock of Saint-Henry is an important part of its character. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Roughly 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters while owners occupy the remainder.
